Toygers Fleur de Lys Cattery
Description
We are a small family-run Toyger farm located in the Lower Laurentians of Quebec and are members of Chats Canada Cats (CCC), a Canadian cat association based in Quebec.
Fascinated by felines, our passion has led us to want a cat with a wild look. That's how we discovered the Toyger, a very rare breed in Quebec. Seduced by her beautiful dress, we did some research to find out more. We fell under the spell! This house tiger looks like a great wild animal, but retains its sweet, playful and affectionate character.
Toyger breeding is a new adventure for us. We have been a couple for almost 20 years and we have always had cats in our daily lives. They have all marked our journey, with their unique character and personality. Respect, quality and professionalism are at the heart of our concerns, both for our cats and our customers.
We hope to make you fall under the spell of the Toygers as it was for us!

Particularities
The Toyger
The Toyger is an intelligent, affectionate and gentle cat with a good level of energy. He adapts well to other animals and his new family. He likes to play and his intelligence means he is easy to train. We can teach him to walk on a leash and pick up. He likes to be cuddled and knows how to make himself heard with his frank meows. These character traits are for information only. Each Toyger will develop his own personality and his character will be influenced by his adoptive family.
There are no diseases associated with the Toyger. In addition, Toygers are easy to maintain and groom because they have a short coat, which they do not lose much.
Origins of the Toyger
The Toyger is a fascinating breed to discover and gets its name from a mixture of "toy" and "tiger" since it looks like a toy tiger. It was developed in 1980 by the American Judy Sugden, whose goal was to find in a domestic cat all the physical characteristics of the tiger. So she started by crossing a Bengal and a selection of other cats with very specific tagging.
The Toyger was registered in 1993 by TICA (The International Cat Association) as an "evaluation" and was accepted into the championship in 2007. It is also recognized by the LOOF (Official Book of Cat Origins) since January 1, 2016. We are in the process of having it recognized by the CCC (Chats Canada Cats). The Toyger is a rare breed and there are still few breeders in the world.
