His experience as a dog handler speaks for itself: finalist of the French ring training championship, trainer and handler of seven competition dogs at national level in ring III, former ring judge, attack man selector, former vice-president of the use commission of the Ile de France canine society, founding president of the Montreuil canin club, currently chatelet canin club.

He was president of the French Rottweiler Club and judge of the morphology of this breed, which he introduced to France in the 1960s. Robert Barrau also devoted part of his time to training the Elysée dogs and many personalities from the world of cinema, television and entertainment.
